Rooms in the house are let to professional male and female individuals and couples. Residents are chosen by the occupants of the house. As the house is shared we will be looking for similar minded people to those already in the house – those that don’t mind sharing with a group other people, that want to get to know other people, perhaps sometimes to socialise or eat with them. Perhaps to be friendly without invading each other’s space. The house tries not to be like bedsits where people come and go, always do their own thing, live isolated in their rooms, etc.
Over the thirty six years of letting, the house has proved very popular for people moving to live and work in London for the first time when they know no-one in the area. We have had teachers, scientists, marketing executives, lawyers, HR executives, film directors, actors, TV executives, office managers, office administrators, managers of all sorts, financial analysts, account managers, oil engineers, etc etc. We have had people from over 20 countries. A recent occupant wrote to the house say – ‘Dear all, I have really enjoyed living here and will miss is loads. Thank you for putting up with me. I wish you all the best for the future and keep in touch’. GS.
The owners believe that in offering the best quality accommodating we will have the best occupants. The house, is subject to an ongoing program of improvement and upgrade. Each year a significant part of the income is invested back into the house to improve it in some way. This is done in a way to minimise any potential disruption to the residents. It must be remembered that maintenance is at the availability of the people doing the work and we sometimes have to fit in with their schedules rather than ours.
In order to ensure that they are fully conversant with all the current legislation concerning property the management team are accredited landlords and members of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA). This is an independent body run by landlords across the UK to encourage good landlords and influence government regulation. The owners hopes that this will give you confidence to know that your best interests as an occupant are always at heart of everything that happens in the house.
